Cell is a smaller group for youngsters in years 5 & 6. We meet on the last Friday of the month in the Atrium, straight after school until 4.45pm.
As this is a smaller group we can study more in depth but still have fun being creative and playing games. In December we managed to include making our own crackers, a chocolate fondue and a bible based pass the parcel

Drop-In Coffee MorningWe have been meeting on Tuesday mornings since early 1997. Our aim is to do our part in extending Christ Church’s warm welcome to neighbours and friends, so everyone is welcome to come for coffee or tea and cakes. It’s a very informal time to drop in for a chat, or to stay a little longer to meet friends and make new ones.
As well as enjoying each other’s company we have been able to donate to local charities. If you would like to join us, do drop in on a Tuesday morning between 10am and 12 noon. You will be more than welcome.
These Tuesday mornings have been run by Angela and Peter Gambling and Joyce and Tom Fitch over this time and we have all set up and run the "Drop-in" between us, only missing when we are on holiday. Tom and Joyce would rather like to now take a back seat in running these mornings, and wonder if there are any folks that would be willing to take our place on a rota basis. We are delighted to say that one couple have offered their services, but we need more. If any one feels they would like to help with this service we would be pleased to hear from you
Wednesday WelcomePlease join us in the Church Room on Wednesdays at 10am for a cup of tea or coffee, and fellowship
Living Light Bible Reflection study notes have been so interesting and useful in our discussions that we will continue this term. It is hoped that this will encourage us in our daily Bible readings, supporting and enriching our daily lives
There is a men’s pub evening on the 2nd Tuesday of each month currently meeting in The Coach and Horses at 8pm.
This is being organized as a team event so anyone wanting to go along and meet up with friends from the other team Churches, this is a wonderful opportunity.
Ladies on ThursdaysThursday mornings in the Church Hall at 9.30am for Women to explore - and grow - in the Christian faith. Coffee and Crèche included!
Pensioners PraiseDid you know that there is a service held at Christ Church on the first Monday of every other month called ‘Pensioners’ Praise’? You don’t have to be a pensioner to come!
Pensioners’ Praise was started in August 1989 by a small team, who felt that it would be a special opportunity for people who have retired from the daily routine of having to go out to work to enjoy learning more about God.
In August 2009 Pensioners’ Praise celebrated its 20th Anniversary
Just come, we would love to have you with us. We meet bi-monthly, always on a Monday at 2pm at Christ Church. There are guest speakers at each meeting
We will try to arrange transport where needed. Please contact the office if this is required
If you would like to know more, please speak to Carole Bendrey, Gordon Eames or the Church Office
Shaken UpShaken Up meets on most Friday nights during term time and is open to anyone who is in year 7 to 13
On Club Nights we open up the Atrium and Small Hall with a tuck shop (lots of fairtrade chocolate), games consoles and play some sport.
There’s a small subs charge of 50p (with special events costing a little more as indicated). Squash and water are provided at no cost.
Shaken Up is run by members of Christ Church. All our leaders are CRB checked and receive leadership training regularly
If you’re looking for something to do during a Friday lunchtime, why not come along to New Gen and spend time chatting about life’s big questions
Pathfinders: Children or YouthThink about some girls or boys that you know between the ages of 11 and 14. What term best describes this age group? Children? Well, they’re not children in the way that 6 year olds are. Key Stage 3? An accurate definition, but it doesn’t really mean much outside school. Teenagers? This applies to only half of the group.
To us at Christ Church they are ‘young people’, a description the 11–14s themselves are comfortable with.
Regardless of what we call them, it’s clear that’s 11–14s are at a key time of life where they are becoming more independent. Independent in their thinking and independent in their ability to make decisions. They are exploring who they are and how they should relate to the outside world. They are passionate about today’s issues and endlessly curious about life. They care about the big questions of life and want to discover answers.
11–14 year olds are also at a fantastic point for discovering God’s love for them. For learning about God’s story, about faith, and about his plan for each one of their lives. Rather than ‘preach’ at them, our Pathfinders youth leaders get alongside the young people to provide guidance and accompany them on their ‘journey’. But then give the young people the freedom to make up their own minds.
Our sessions are informal and include a variety of games, music, lively discussion and creative work that offers teaching and Bible study in an engaging way.
Christ Church’s children’s and youth work runs three Sundays a month during our 10am services and starts from age 3.
